Beliefs

What we believe as a church:
We are Biblical. We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are God’s Word. Therefore, they are without error and they are a true and reliable authority for all man’s belief concerning himself, God, and how we are to live.
We are Evangelical. We are evangelical in the best sense of that word. We maintain that the calling of the Church is to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ among all peoples. We are committed to sharing our faith with those that have not come to and rested in Christ as their savior. He said, “Come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
We are Reformed. As a church, we hold to the distinctives of the Reformed tradition. In this regard, we are heirs of the great men of the Reformation such as Martin Luther, John Calvin, and John Knox. The Reformed tradition has always sought to maintain a God-centered view of all things, a dependence upon the grace of God, and a reliance upon the Word, prayer, and sacraments.
We are Confessional. We have a written confession of faith. This confession is the historical confession of Presbyterians, The Westminster Confession of Faith with its Larger and Shorter Catechisms. This confession is subordinate to the Scriptures and is true only as it speaks accurately regarding what the Scriptures teach. Men labored in prayer, study, and conversation to produce these documents as a most faithful witness to what the Scriptures teach. We hold to and believe that these documents are a well articulated theology of the Scriptures, though we do not believe they are inerrant.

We are Presbyterian. Our form of government is Presbyterian, because we believe it is the biblical model of church governance. This means that we have a representative form of government, whereby the congregation elects godly men to lead and care for them in a righteous manner. These men are the elders of the church. They are responsible before the Lord to uphold the truth of the Scriptures, care for the congregation, and encourage holiness in the people.
We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America. The PCA is a conservative Presbyterian denomination that is among the fastest growing denominations in the country. The denomination contains over 1,600 churches and over 335,000 members. The Presbyterian Church in America has a strong commitment to evangelism, missionary work at home and abroad, and to Christian education. From its inception, the church has determined its purpose to be “faithful to the Scriptures, true to the reformed faith, and obedient to the Great Commission.”
